Prasanna Kumar Sinha, APS

BIOGRAPHY
Prasanna Kumar Sinha, the second son of Udbhav Sinha and Amusena Devi, was born in 1940 in a well-to-do Bishnupriya Manipuri family belonging to Madgalya Gotro of Raja Lokei clan in the village of Dudpur of Katigorah Circle of Cachar district, Assam, India. Udbhav Sinha and Amusena Devi as parents were very much conscious about the proper education of their kids. At that time, sufficient schools were not there in the rural areas. Most of the villages have LP Schools only. Schools of secondary level were very few in number then. Hence, students had to move far places to attend schools.

In such a juncture, Udbhab Sinha got his son admitted in the Dudpur LP School. Prasanna Kumar Sinha was then 7 (seven) years old only when he was in Lower Primary School Student. After completion of primary level he was sent to Silchar to his maternal uncle's house. It is noteworthy that Nanda Kishore Sinha, the then MLA of Assam Legislative Assembly, Assam, India, who is also known as one of the architects of modern Barak Valley was his maternal uncle. Nanda Kishore Sinha had sacrificed a lot for Bengali language and resigned as MLA in support of the language and the people of the valley.

At Silchar young Prasanna got admitted in class IV in Govt Boy's H. S. School, Silchar, Cachar, Assam. He appeared H.S.L.C in 1960 and come out successfully. Thereafter, he completed Intermediate from Guru Charan College, Silchar in 1962. He studied his B.A. in Cachar College and completed his B.A. Part I in 1964. He had a large number of close college friends, among them were Kalika Prasad Choudhury and Jhumur Chanda. He also served as an Under Officer of NCC in Cachar College. All these made him bold and perfect to build-up his future prospect. By this time, he got the job of a Clark in 1963 in Katigorah Tehsil and thereafter, he joined in the Police department on 7th July 1965 as a Sub Inspector in Bongaigaon (Abhayapuri), Assam, India directly.

In 1982, he got transferred to Haflong Court of North Cachar Hills district, Assam, as Prosecuting Inspector (PI). Here, it is noteworthy that Prasanna Kumar Sinha was the first PI (Prosecuting Inspector) of Haflong court. He served in this post for three years and thereafter was transferred to Silchar, Cachar, Assam as Intelligence Branch Inspector (IBI). In the year 1988, he were transferred to Haflong again in the same position. In mid of 1992 he got promoted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) of Assam Police and posted at Nalbari district of Assam in DSB Branch. He served about 4 years there and was transferred thereafter to Haflong again in 1996 as DySP (HQ) and continued till 1998. In the same year he got promoted as Second-in-Command (2-in-C) and joined in 5th APBN, Santila, Haflong, N. C. Hills (Dima Hasao).
